Are You Blocking Your Success? How to Know and What to Do About It!

Are you blocking your success? How can you identify these blocks, and more importantly, what can you do to clear them?

Realizing You Might Have a Block

Believe it or not, the first step in overcoming any block is realizing that it might exist in the first place. Let me share with you a bit about my journey. Back when I was starting out in sales, I learned a lot about goal setting and the importance of action. But despite my hard work and hitting quotas, I noticed I was stuck at the same income level month after month.

I once thought these setbacks were due to external factors beyond my control—unexpected expenses like car repairs or medical bills. However, I started to wonder if there was something deeper at play. It was then that I questioned if maybe I had set a subconscious financial ceiling for myself. It was both a scary and liberating thought. If I were blocking my own success, then maybe I could also unlock it.

The Power of the Subconscious Mind

This realization led me to explore the power of the mind and subconscious programming. Around that time, I attended a sales seminar led by the incredible Zig Ziglar. His philosophy was simple but profound: You can get everything in life that you want if you help enough other people get what they want.

Zig didn't just talk about sales strategies. He delved into mental abilities, envisioning success, and embodying the traits of a successful person. His teachings made me understand that to achieve goals, it's not just about hard work; it’s about shifting your internal identity to that of someone who has already achieved those goals.

Visualization and Mental Rehearsal

I began to practice creative visualization before every sales appointment. I would imagine every detail, from entering the office to shaking hands on a contract. By mentally rehearsing these scenes, I infused them with real-life experiences and past successes. This exercise bolstered my confidence before every meeting, which almost always led to a positive outcome. I soon became one of the top salespeople in my company, surpassing even my own expectations.

Shifting Your Identity

One of the most eye-opening resources I came across was the book "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Maxwell Maltz. His research revealed that lasting change must align with our internal self-image. No matter how much we change externally, if our internal beliefs don't shift, we remain stuck.

Reflecting on my childhood, I recalled how my parents struggled with finances and lamented their inability to "get to the next level." Unbeknownst to me, I had internalized their financial struggles and mirrored them in my own life. Recognizing this pattern was the key to breaking free.

Building Confidence

A pivotal moment in my journey involved a quote from the movie "Miracle," which chronicled the 1980 US Olympic hockey team’s incredible triumph. The commentator noted that the team played with the confidence of champions. Confidence, as I learned, is vital for success. It fuels consistency and helps us overcome slumps.

If you've ever experienced a slump or seen someone struggle despite their abilities, know that it's often a crisis of confidence. Our beliefs about ourselves, shaped by past events and internalized narratives, can either hinder or propel us.

Identifying and Overcoming Blocks

If you suspect you’re blocking your success, start by paying attention to your patterns. What setbacks do you recurrently face? They could reveal underlying beliefs or memories dictating your actions.

I've created a quiz to help identify if you're blocking your success and provide solutions tailored to your needs. The journey to overcoming these blocks involves shifting your internal identity, embodying the person who has already achieved your goals, and building unwavering confidence.

Final Thoughts

Remember, change begins from the inside out. If I can break through my self-imposed barriers, so can you. Embrace the transformation, envision success, and step into the person you’re meant to be.
