Developing Clarity and Self-Confidence that Leads to Success
As consultants, coaches or online marketers we’re often told to share our story of success, but what if you’re just getting started? What can you possibly share? That seems to be an ongoing question for many people just getting their business up and running. And it's that one question that tends to create the brick wall for most new coaches and online business owners. It may be a fair question. If you're just starting your business, you probably don't have a huge list of testimonials or a long line of clients waiting for your expertise – yet!
Don’t let that stop you. We all start somewhere. I bet if you weed through all the ‘stuff’, the mind games, or the self-inflicted obstacles you’ll see that you’ve had plenty of success. It may be in other areas of your life, but if you look you’ll find your own success.
Self-confidence is the backbone of success
"People follow people who are clear on their vision and know where they’re going."
This is a key principle of success. People don’t follow you because of where you’ve been; they look to you because of where you’re going. Think about that, who are you listening to? Which authors are you reading? People follow people who are clear on their vision and know where they’re going.
Begin today to take action as if you’ve already achieved the level of success you desire. If that means hosting webinars or hangouts (even if there’s one person attending), creating coaching products, or servicing clients (even if it’s only one) then do it as if you have thousands of people attending.
It’s a law. You’ll increase your confidence in your ability to have success simply because practice makes perfect. You’ll also attract to yourself the clients you desire because you are acting with expectation. That is the law of attraction.
If you have a hard time believing in yourself, your talents or abilities then do what Les Brown suggests:
“Lean on someone else’s belief in you until your belief kicks in!”
This is why it’s so important to surround yourself with supportive people and stay connected to those who are already having the type of success you want.
One of the easiest ways to help bolster your own confidence is by sharing your personal story, which can be as simple as why you decided to start your own business. That, in and of itself is a success. It takes true guts and determination to strike out on your own – so share it. People are naturally drawn to those who have a clear sense of direction and defined goals.
Take the time to get clear!
Develop a strong, focused vision and not only will people will begin to seek you out but, you'll always know which step to take next. To help you with this focus and get you on the way to creating a clear plan of action with a defined strategy to grow your business, download the clarity action guide.
Clearing mental chatter blocking your self-confidence necessary for success.
Not knowing what step to take next is one of the most common problems for many people just launching their own business. The lack of a clearly defined plan of action is a huge time waster and only leads to the 'busy' work that really doesn't amount to much of anything. Yet having a plan but failing to take action on it is just as bad as having no plan at all.
So how do you create a clear plan of action that you WILL follow daily? It all starts with (you may have guessed it) Self-Confidence. I'm not talking about the daily activities that are required to get on with life, the regular 'chores'. I'm talking about the ability to create momentum in your business. Creating a thriving business takes effort, commitment and sheer guts. The kind of guts that comes from the self-confidence that you can do it - whatever 'it' may be for you.
Yes, it's a bit of an oxymoron, when you have self-confidence it's a bit easier to set up a plan and follow it, yet when you have a plan and know exactly what to do daily, it's a bit easier to develop the self-confidence necessary to propel yourself forward.
Developing self-confidence is an inside job, one of the best books I've personally ever read on developing self-confidence is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Likewise, Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich actually details a self-confidence formula as part of outlining your definite major purpose in life, clearly he realized that the ability to achieve goals is directly related to our ability to confidently believe in our own self.
Having daily action steps to follow will go a long way in helping build your business. One of the first steps will be to define your objectives, what do you want to achieve and why? Your objective is the foundation of your business, everything else is built upon that foundation. Without a firm base you cannot have the structure necessary to support a thriving business.
You must create a specific plan of action to position your brand and share your expertise. Without action, you have no business. Building a business begins first in your mind, once it is backed by self-confidence and a specific plan of action success becomes inevitable!
