Goal Setting Success Principles that Actually Work

I’ve written many articles and led many seminars on lead generation, goal setting, daily productivity, and focused, consistent action. But the fact is that it does not matter how many articles you’ve read or classes you’ve attended, if you are not seeing much progress in your business you may need knowledge from the inside out rather than the outside in.

When both your inner mind (subconscious) and outer mind (conscious) are in agreement then you’ll achieve the type of ‘over-the-top’, ‘no stopping me now’ goal setting success!

Ever wonder why some goals are easier to achieve than others? Or why some people seem to have no  struggle realizing their goals? The answer can be found in these goal setting success principles that actually work.

Goal setting success principles help you realize your brilliance

Before any outward education can sink in, there has to be an internal mind shift. You have to dig deeper. We know that it’s important to have your ‘why’ in order to set your goals, but sometimes our ‘why’s’ seem a bit superficial.

How do emotions play into your goal setting success principles?

It’s easy for me to say I want to spend more time with my kids. I want to travel with them. I want to buy them things. Heck I want the peace of mind that comes with financial freedom, especially when raising four teenagers. Ok that all sounds good and it is all quite valid. But, in order to truly make the goal come alive, and make it believable in my own mind, I have to back it with emotion.

Certainly spending time with my family is an emotional goal but when I take it a little deeper and feel the emotions of what it’s like to spend time with my children, then it becomes more believable. Emotion is a key goal setting success principle. So, in order for my mind to truly accept and begin to work on my goal, I need to feel my goal. I need to think in details, and paint a picture that I can emotionally connect with, for example:

  • Where are we?
  • What are we doing?
  • What are the sights, the sounds, the feelings?
  • Are we riding horses along the beach?
  • Are we zip-lining through the mountains?
  • Are we hiking?
  • What’s the weather like, is it so blazing hot that salty, sweat is dripping into our eyes and stinging them.
  • Is it cool and misty? Are my daughter’s complaining that their hair is getting frizzy thanks to damp air?

Any goal you can mix with believable, realistic emotions will be much easier for your subconscious mind to accept and act upon. So go ahead, have fun with it make it real – it’s your vision!

Vision is a key goal setting success principle

But, until I can acknowledge the vision I see when I close my eyes at night, and accept the thing that tugs at my heart, until I can answer what it is that makes me come alive, really alive, then many of my goals may remain elusive.

If I really want that over-the-top success then I have to dig deeper and allow myself to feel the emotion that sneaks up from deep within my soul, grabs hold of me when no one is around, and makes me weep as it screams; “Stop! Stop living in the shadow of yourself! This is what you were born to do!”

Now I’m not saying that spending time with family is not a worthy goal but it may not be at the most powerful level, that soul stirring level, which pushes you to reach higher. That type of determination comes only from truly knowing yourself, and that’s another powerful goal setting success principle.  You have to get clear as to who you are, what you want and why.

Goal Setting Success Principles – Don’t Set Another Goal Until You Read These Tips

If you want to excel in your business and your life, if you want to not only achieve but surpass your goals, then you may have to dig a bit deeper to understand your motives and your actions or lack thereof.  I will guarantee you that somewhere in your purpose there will be a need to help other people, because that is who we are as human beings.

How does this apply to your business? Well, most people start their own business because they want freedom to run their life on their own terms and they have a desire to help others.  They are thrilled at the inspiring stories of others who’ve overcome obstacles to reach their success. They enjoy sharing time with like-minded people, and they like to help others, because it feels good, it’s fulfilling and it validates their existence.

So if you are not getting the results you want then dig deeper, feel your purpose and take a look at how and what you can do to help others achieve their goals. As Zig Ziglar said: “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” You have to share of yourself before you can receive from others, it’s a basic universal law.

You’ll find that as you continue to help others, you’ll discover more about yourself. When you come from self-knowledge and confidence you are able to apply and reap the benefits of the lessons you’ve learned. You’ll have the breakthroughs necessary to achieve goal setting success!

Remember you’ve been given free will to design the life you desire!

If you have not hit your goals by now or are not even sure what those goals are, then something needs to change!
